DID JOB SEE GOD THE FATHER

If God the Father cannot be looked upon, how is the following verse explained?

.

Job 42:1 Then Job answered the LORD and said:

.

Job 42:5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.

.

First of all we’ll see which God Job is talking to.

.

Psa 83:18 That they may know that You, whose name alone is the LORD, Are the Most High over all the earth.

.

Mar 5:7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.”

.

These two scriptures prove that there is only one God called Jehovah [3068 in Strong’s Concordance.]

.

This is backed up in Mark where Jesus is identified as the Son of the Most High.

.

Wherever Jehovah [3068 usually translated Lord] is mentioned in the Old Testament it can only refer to God the Father; The Most High God. This subject is covered completely in our article ‘God the Father Revealed’ on our web site.

.

Which God spoke to Job?

.

Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:

.

It was God the Father who spoke to Job. GOD SPOKE ‘OUT OF THE WHIRLWIND’

.

God the Father can be heard but not seen.

.

Exo 33:20 But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”

.

Gen 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

.

Let me repeat; God the Father can be heard; He cannot be seen. Moses had a glimpse of the back of God. God obviously did not regard this as looking upon Him. Even the glimpse caused Moses’ face to shine brightly.

.

With the knowledge that God cannot be seen; we will have another look at the scripture which states that Job saw God.

.

Job 42:5 “I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.

.

The word sees [72OO in Strong’s Concordance] can mean to see literally or figuratively, and is used in both senses in the book of Job.

.

Job 11:11 For He knows deceitful men; He sees wickedness also. Will He not then consider it?

.

Job 13:1 “Behold, my eye has seen all this, My ear has heard and understood it.

.

This verse is talking about understanding the previous verses.

.

Job 22:19 “The righteous see it and are glad, And the innocent laugh at them:

.

Job 32:5 When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, his wrath was aroused.

.

It is possible to see with eyes of understanding.

.

Eph 1:18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

.

Job did not literally look upon God the Father. To do so would have meant that scripture was broken.

.

God the Father spoke to Job ‘in a whirlwind.’

.

Job 38:1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:

.

Throughout the Bible, God appears in a cloud, in fire, in a whirlwind, in a vision, invisible or dream. Nowhere is He directly looked upon.

.

Job did not directly look at God, he saw God ‘with the eyes of understanding.’
